The Alters will land on PS5 on June the 13th!
At first glance, The Alters may seem like a familiar survival experience: a lone protagonist stranded on a distant planet, trying to outrun an encroaching cosmic threat. But things get weird—and wonderfully human—once you realize that the only way forward is to create alternate versions of yourself. These “Alters” aren’t clones or mindless helpers. They’re fractured echoes of who you could’ve been if you’d made different life choices. And sometimes, they don’t like you very much.
It’s this uniquely introspective spin that makes The Alters far more than another sci-fi survival game. Jan Dolski, the game’s protagonist, is just an ordinary man caught in an extraordinary situation. With the help of advanced technology, he generates Alters shaped by “what if” moments—crucial crossroads in life where one decision could have led to a different personality, skill set, and worldview. These alternate selves are vital to survival, but they also bring emotional baggage. Some may resent being created. Others question Jan’s leadership. Managing such a personal crew becomes a delicate balance of survival strategy, relationship-building, and personal reckoning.
